With technology now being such a huge part of our modern lives, it’s hard for us to imagine what it was like before everything was computerised. There used to be many jobs that were essential to daily life, before we built machines to do them, or created inventions that would carry out the task. However, nowadays, these jobs have long been obsolete, to the point where many of us may not even know they ever existed.
Going back as far as the 1650s, our latest infographic explores old jobs that no longer exist, and when they started to become less popular. For example, did you know there were such people called resurrectionists who would dig up graves to sell the bodies as cadavers to the local medical schools? Or that before alarm clocks there used to be people who would come to your door and throw stones at your window to wake you up?
